Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario have access to abundant natural resources that present economic development opportunities in mining, forestry, and hydro-electric power generation. Further, the procurement of essential goods and services by Aboriginal communities from larger urban centres like Thunder Bay is a source of revenue that greatly contributes to the economy of the City and surrounding region.
The success of these opportunities relies heavily on partnerships between government, industry, and communities – both Aboriginal, and Non-Aboriginal. The APEX Speaker Series aims to facilitate the development of business alliances and partnerships among stakeholders in the North and expand their networks for economic and business growth. Working together in partnership is necessary for a stronger region.
