The City of Thunder Bay has been accepted into the Federation of Canadian Municipalities new Climate and Asset management Network. This will assist Thunder Bay and other Canadian municipalities to better generate climate change and sustainability goals into decision making about infrastructure assets and services.

On November 28, 2018 The City of Thunder Bay was given the Local Food Champion Award by the Greenbelt Fund. This award recognizes the leadership and innovation that is creating systematic change in Ontario’s agri-food sector.

The City of Thunder Bay’s Centennial Botanical Conservatory celebrated its 50th Anniversary on November 18th. Happy Anniversary!

Two of our amazing Members, Dawson Trail Brewery and Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. teamed up to sponsor Jingle Brews in support of the Arthritis Society. The event was held on December 2nd and was a huge success.

Conquer the Tower sponsored by Levaero Aviation and in support of Pro Kids & Thunder Bay Diving Club raised an amazing $133, 962 this year.  Pro Kids and the Thunder Bay Diving Club are thrilled with Conquer the Tower’s continued success over the years.

Ontario is making it easier and more convenient for people to get where they need to go by improving transpiration services within and between communities across Northern Ontario. Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines, and Seven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation, made the announcement in Thunder Bay on December 1st along side Minsiter Bill Mauro.

Port of Thunder Bay is excited to announce that they have a brand new look! These efforts are to show the world that our port is a preferred destination for imports and exports over other industry leaders such as the port of Vancouver.

2017 Mayor’s Community Safety Awards included four of our amazing members. Union Gas was recognized for their contributions to the Bear Clan Patrol, receiving Outstanding Community Project Award. Matawa First Nations management was also recognized for their Bay Safe project, receiving the Outstanding Community Project Award. Ken Miller from Apex Investigation & Security received the Community Hero Award and Adrelle Sagutcheway from Generator received the Young Leader Award. Congratulations to everyone!

Union Gas donated $5000.00 in combination of fire alarms & CO2 detectors to the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue’s SAFE program.   The program is an assistance-based program geared towards local home owners that require assistant is acquisition or installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

After debuting on the list of Top 40 Research Hospitals in Canada in 2010, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre continues to rank among the leading health research institutions in the country. Seven years ago, our Hospital appeared on the list for the first time, entering at #40. This year, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre occupies the 38th position..

Rent Panda is an easy, reliable source to find the perfect matches for landlords and tenants. Owner Richard Togman says the demand has been steadily growing with more people using the site to post properties for rent as well as potential tenants browsing the site, with some getting thousands of hits a day.

The Thunder Bay KOA Holiday Campground has won the 2018 KOA President’s Award and KOA Founder’s Award. Congratulations KOA Thunder Bay!
