Bazaar & Novelty
It was in April of 1980 that Barry and Sue Peever left their home in Winnipeg and travelled eastward to open a new business. Barry had success with a Bazaar & Novelty store in Winnipeg and decided to expand to Thunder Bay.
These past 35 years have seen many changes to Barry’s business model. Initially it was bingo that established Bazaar & Novelty branches across Canada. As manufacturers and suppliers of all types of bingo supplies, organizations both big and small looked to Bazaar & Novelty as the major source of products. Break open tickets were also a popular source of revenue for many organizations across the area and Bazaar & Novelty was a major manufacturer and supplier of them.
As the Provincial Government moved towards a newly regulated gaming industry and opened Casinos, the needs of local charities changed. It was at that time Barry decided to take the business in a new direction. Joining up with Harlan Fairbanks out of Winnipeg, Bazaar & Novelty became their major supplier of concession goods and equipment to all of Northwestern Ontario as well as the far north. Whether you’re looking for soft ice cream, ice cream toppings, slush puppie flavours, ice caps, popcorn, candy floss, waffles, nachos, cups, spoons, straws, ice cream machines, slush puppie machines, ugolinis, popcorn machines, coffee, coffee set-ups and more, they have it all! They also do rentals of some equipment for your special occasion. They supply ice cream shops, restaurants and corner convenience stores with a wide variety of special treats! Their warehouse is always stocked and the showroom features many displays of various pieces of concession equipment. Why not stop in and see what deliciously refreshing beverage they might have mixed up for you. The general public is always welcome to purchase from the store.
Bazaar & Novelty continues to supply bingo products and break open tickets to many organizations throughout the area. To see everything that is available in the store, check out their website www.bazaarandnovelty.ca or find and like them on Facebook.
