Insurance premiums for licensed restaurants and bars are increasing significantly for many establishments in Thunder Bay. Some of our Members have seen a jump of 30-40% in their annual premium costs this year, despite greatly reduced revenues as a result of being closed or reduced to take-out only for months due to Ontario’s COVID-19 restrictions for non-essential businesses. In this letter, the Chamber proposes that this additional expense could be covered by existing business relief funding.
