March 2021 Funding Recipient:

Elizabeth Fry Society of North Western Ontario

The TBay 100 People Who Care campaign raised $2,700 this quarter, and the group voted to award the funds to Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario. Thanks to Karen Kerk for making the nomination.

Elizabeth Fry is an advocacy agency supporting vulnerable people who are precariously housed, those doing street level sex work, and also those transitioning out of the correctional system.
EFS has implemented a partner project with Roots to Harvest to buy fresh, easy to access meals and foods.  They deliver 75 bags monthly. Delivering the bags provides an opportunity to connect with this very vulnerable group to provide other supports related to harm reduction and treatment supports, health testing, as well as referrals, assistance with housing options and health concerns. This important service aids in preventing initial criminalization or recidivism. Women by large are criminalized for crimes due to poverty and victimization. The funds for this program will be used up this month.
The 100 People Who care funds will be used to continue purchasing healthy foods for 75 monthly food support bags to deliver to their vulnerable clientele this spring.
