Chamber Welcomes BDC as Presenting Sponsor of 2018 After Business

New hosts, "socials" and behind-the-scenes peeks featured in this year's event series

The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is very excited to announce BDC as the Presenting Sponsor of our 2018 series of After Business events.  After Business is the Chamber’s longest-running and best-known event, offering opportunities for business to engage in a social atmosphere at a different Member host location each time, and we’re looking forward to working with BDC to build on the event’s capacity to serve as a pop-up information hub and knowledge exchange.

“Our Membership represents an immense pool of shared resources and knowledge, and After Business is a great opportunity for Members to tap into that and support one another,” says Chamber President Charla Robinson.  “Whether you’re a small or large business, a charity, an accounting, investment or legal firm, a restaurant or a transportation company, you’ll benefit from an exchange of information with other Members – whether that means learning about ways to save on your business’ bottom line or connecting with new clients.”

As Canada’s business development bank and the only financial institution devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs, BDC’s role is to support entrepreneurs in all industries and at all stages of development through financing, advisory services and capital, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.  BDC spokesperson Michael Nitz says they plan to attend every After Business event with a table full of useful information and advisors present to offer Members free advice on the spot.

“Many people don’t realize that BDC is a Crown corporation and that our sole shareholder is the Government of Canada,” Michael told us.  “We’re here specifically to support business growth, and we’re looking forward to an opportunity to meet Thunder Bay’s entrepreneurs and business owners in an informal atmosphere and learning more about how we can serve them.”

Attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of hosts including Halfway Motors Power Sports, Lowerys and our first event of the year in February in the hangar at Wasaya Airways.  We’re also planning two After Business “socials” to be hosted at Beaux Daddy’s and Sleeping Giant Brewing Co.  The “social” format offers Members free admission to a drop-in-style gathering focused on engaging with other Members without a formal exhibitor roster.
