City of Thunder Bay employees, together with Superior North EMS and Thunder Bay Public Library staff, handed over cheques totalling more than $134,000 to the United Way of Thunder Bay on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.  More

Through donations, product sales and department competitions, the students and employees at Confederation College have raised $49,112 in support of its students, the United Way of Thunder Bay and “Stock the Bank”, an internal campaign in support of the Emergency Student Fund and Food Bank at the College.  More

Lakehead Public School’s Sherri-Lynne Pharand received high praise from the local Indigenous community at a blanket ceremony held at the board office.  Pharand, the superintendent of education, was recognized for her ongoing work to improve school life for the board’s Aboriginal students, to include their cultural teachings in the curriculum and ensure their heritage is reflected in the classroom.

PARO has partnered with a dynamic collaboration of purpose-driven agents of change (including the Thunder Bay CEDC, Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre, Sault St. Marie Innovation Centre, and Nordik Institute, along with various other contributing community partners and funders) to launch Social Enterprise Northern Ontario (SENO).  The social enterprise or social entrepreneur wishes to ignite social change through the creation of a for-profit or not-for-profit business. By developing a business idea rooted in addressing issues that matter to people and the planet, entrepreneurs develop these ideas into viable initiatives that sustain economic development and pioneer social innovation.  More

The Thunder Bay Airport is pleased to announce the introduction of multiple local food service brands in the Air Terminal Building, including Pinetree Catering‘s “Nomad” and partnerships with Aramark and suppliers like Rose N Crantz Roasting Co., Sleeping Giant Brewing Co., Eat Local Pizza, the Persian Man, B&B Farms and Thunder Bay Meat Processing.  More
