Today, the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission, with the support of Impala Canada, are launching the #ReImagineTBay promotional campaign.

“COVID-19 is presenting new challenges for businesses and our community as a whole,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce. “Let’s use this opportunity to look at ourselves, our businesses and our community for new ideas that will make us better.  This is our chance to Reimagine Thunder Bay.”

The campaign seeks to highlight the many ways that Thunder Bay businesses are reimagining themselves to keep staff and patrons safe during COVID-19 by asking the public to snap photos of good examples and post them to Facebook or Instagram for the next four weeks with the hashtag #reimaginetbay. A random winner will be chosen each day from among qualifying posts and awarded a $100 gift certificate to a Thunder Bay business.

“During these uncertain times it is crucial to not only support local businesses but to also recognize their efforts in keeping the community safe.” said Eric Zakrewski, CEO, Thunder Bay CEDC “As the economy starts to re-open the CEDC encourages the citizens of Thunder Bay to support local when they can and to thank all of our local businesses for their extraordinary efforts by participating in the #ReimagineTBay campaign. The campaign is an easy way for many to engage with their favourite local business & showcase how they are keeping the community safe in our new reality.”

Bryan Wilson, General Manager, Lac des Iles Mine Impala Canada agrees, “We know our community is stronger when we work together. Together, the Thunder Bay community will rise to the challenge to support the health and safety of one another as the province re-opens. As close neighbours and long-time partners, we’re proud to support the #reimaginetbay campaign with the Thunder Bay CEDC and Chamber of Commerce.”

The public is invited to post #reimaginetbay images to Facebook or Instagram at any time; winners will be selected Monday through Friday from among qualifying posts. The contest opened this morning.  Learn more on the contest page.
