The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce will be making a deputation to City Council tonight regarding the 2019 City Budget.  The meeting will begin at 6:30pm at City Hall.

“Our members are quite concerned about the proposed 3.25% tax levy increase,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.  “Over the past 8 years, taxes collected by the City have risen from $157 million to this year’s proposed $196 million, an increase of nearly 25%.  We are imploring City Council to find reductions to bring the total tax funded spending increase to no more than 2% this year.  In addition, we will be asking Council to undertake a Service & Spending Review to help to reduce expenses in future years.”
